Montana Author Speaks on Book Walking the Point

VA Montana Healthcare System recently hosted author Daryl S. Paulson, Ph.D., from Bozeman, Montana, for a discussion with veterans and the public. He is the author of several books. His last book is Haunted by Combat: Understanding PTSD in War Veterans Including Women, Reservists, and Those Coming Back from Iraq. Dr. Paulson was a Vietnamese-language interpreter in the Vietnam War, serving with the 1st Marine Division, headquartered near Da Nang. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Commendation Medal, with the Combat V for valor, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.

He discussed his book Walking the Point: Male initiation and the Vietnam War in a conversation with veterans from the Vet to Vet group. Vet to Vet groups focus their meetings around coping with the symptoms of mental illness on a daily basis. It’s about recovery and success. Peer support leaders help their groups sustain recovery in cooperation with their healthcare providers. This program has been used successfully in VAs and other groups across the nation.
