COVID-19 Veteran vaccination update

 A Montana Veteran receives a COVID-19 vaccine.

All Veterans, Veteran spouses and/or caregivers, and CHAMPVA recipients are now eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine from Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS). Schedule your appointment today!

Wednesday, June 2, 2021

Below, first you’ll find information about how the VA can help all Veterans (including Veterans who do not receive and are not eligible for VHA healthcare), their spouse and/or caregivers, and CHAMPVA recipients receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Then, you will find information on how you, your spouse and/or caregiver, and CHAMPVA recipients can schedule a COVID-19 vaccine at MTVAHCS vaccine clinics.

MTVAHCS Is Now Able to Provide COVID-19 Vaccines to all Veterans, Veteran Spouses and/or Caregivers, and CHAMPVA Recipients

If you’re a Veteran, Veteran’s spouse or caregiver, or a CHAMPVA recipient, you’re now eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine from Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS). Under the SAVE Lives Act (also known as H.R. 1276), which was signed into law on March 23, the VA’s legal authority to provide COVID-19 vaccines expanded to include all Veterans, regardless of their VA health care enrollment status, as well as Veteran spouses, caregivers, and some beneficiaries.

Call or Sign Up to Schedule a COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Today

Previously, MTVAHCS was calling or texting Veterans as they became eligible to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

Enrolled Veterans should call (877) 468-8387 and select Option 2, and then Option 2 to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. Walk-in appointments are also available at most MTVAHCS vaccine clinics.

Non-enrolled Veterans, their spouses and/or caregivers, and CHAMPVA recipients will need to sign up online here to register to receive a vaccine. Once registered, MTVAHCS will then contact each individual to schedule a vaccine appointment. Walk-in appointments are also available at most MTVAHCS vaccine clinics.

Please note that all patients, visitors, and anyone who receives a vaccine at a MTVAHCS facility are required to wear a face covering that fully covers both the nose and mouth, per Federal regulation. Unenrolled Veterans are asked to bring in their DD-214 at the time of their vaccine appointment. COVID-19 vaccines are available only at MTVAHCS COVID-19 vaccine clinics (vaccines are not available on a walk-in basis at MTVAHCS clinics and medical centers).

At this time, upcoming MTVAHCS vaccine appointments will be for the two-dose Moderna vaccine or the single-dose Janssen vaccine. Second dose appointments will be scheduled at the time a person receives their first dose.
