Montana VA hosts Veterans Town Hall, Health Fair in Missoula, Feb. 2

Fort Harrison, Mont. – The next Veterans Town Hall hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs will be in Missoula, Feb. 2.

The meeting is open to all members of the public with an interest in Veterans benefits and healthcare.

Local healthcare providers are also invited to attend and learn more about providing Veteran healthcare in the community. VA staff will be available to answer providers’ questions regarding provider agreements, billing and other topics related to delivering that care.

VA staff will use a Health Fair format for the event with a focus on front line staff and managers answering questions Veterans and their family members in the Missoula area might have about eligibility and services.

Hosted by the VA Montana Health Care System and the Fort Harrison Regional Benefit Office, the event will be held at the Missoula Public Library in the large meeting room. Doors open at noon. Opening remarks begin at 12:10pm. The event ends at 2:30pm.

VA Montana healthcare staff will be available to discuss a wide variety of topics including: eligibility & enrollment, billing, mental health, community care, and women’s health.

The Fort Harrison VA human resources office will also be on hand to provide information and answer questions about employment at the VA for both clinical and administrative positions.

Additionally, local Veterans Benefits staff will be available to answer questions related to many of the VA benefits available to eligible Veterans.

Representatives from the Missoula Joining Community Forces initiative, Montana Dept. of Public Health & Human Services and the Montana Dept. of Administration have also been invited to participate and provide information about their Veteran services & programs.

The VA Montana Health Care System manages the health care of over 47,000 enrolled Veterans across Montana and provides a VA presence in every major city in the state through eleven community based clinics, two telehealth outreach clinic, the Miles City community living center, the Billings Health Care Center, and the Fort Harrison acute care medical center.

The Fort Harrison Regional Benefit Office is one of 56 around the country which provides a wide array of financial benefits to eligible Veterans and their families, such as disability compensation for service-related injuries or illnesses, income-based pension for wartime Veterans and their survivors, education, vocational rehab & employment, home loan, and life insurance benefits.
