Sleep Clinic

Our Sleep Disorders Center offers an extremely comprehensive suite of sleep services to Montana Veterans. This includes initial sleep disorders consult review by a board certified Sleep Physician, Sleep Education/Orientation Class, In-lab and At-home sleep studies, In-lab PAP titration, nocturnal oximetry, actigraphy, Sleep MD and PA clinics, CPAP compliance follow-up by licensed RTs in 5 VA clinics, and prosthetics management of PAP machines and supplies. We offer advanced PAP modalities including ASV and AVAPS. When combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) offered through Behavioral Health services, these comprehensive services are unmatched in the non-VA community.

We provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment and patient education for a variety of sleep disorders including, circadian rhythm disorders, hypersomnias (sleepiness), insomnia, parasomnias and sleep related movement disorders, and sleep related breathing disorders.

Physicians and PAs are available for sleep appointments in Helena, Fort Harrison, Billings and all CBOC sites either face-to-face or through tele-health. 

Respiratory therapy for sleep-related diagnoses is also available at 6 sites: Helena, Fort Harrison, Billings, Great Falls, Missoula and Kalispell. RTs work with the Sleep MD/PA like an RN in a PACT team as a case manager for patients with Sleep disorders. This allows the team to provide comprehensive, collaborative Sleep care which also includes same day access. Respiratory services include:
  • CPAP compliance, equipment support, education and inventory management.
  • Robust utilization of remote data monitoring
  • Home apnea testing
  • Nocturnal oximetry
In-lab Polysomnography sleep testing is available at the Helena Sleep Clinic. Services include:
  • Diagnostic testing
  • Titration testing including CPAP and BIPAP
  • Split night testing
  • Advanced modalities including ASV and AVAPS testing
  • Mean Sleep Latency and Mean Wakefulness Testing
Other Sleep Clinic services include:
  • Home Sleep Apnea testing
  • Nocturnal oximetry
  • Actigraphy
  • Sleep orientation and education class
Collaboration with Mental Health and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) Montana Veterans have access to CBT-i through behavioral health services across the state by various behavioral health clinicians in face to face or Telehealth appointment.
